Without the context of Natasha’s death (Yelena has no idea Natasha willingly sacrificed herself to get the soul stone, despite Clint’s efforts to die himself.) Yelena will surely have a bone to pick with Clint, and you have to wonder if the archer is strong enough to survive the anger of a former Widow. Yelena, in the end-credits scene of “Black Widow”, meets with the mysterious Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who we first met in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Valentina proposes that Yelena might like to get revenge on the man who she claims is responsible for her sister’s death, and that man is Clint Barton. After the events of “Black Widow” we know Natasha had a family that cared for her, her sister Yelena ( Florence Pugh) especially. The last time we saw Clint Barton was in “ Avengers: Endgame,” when he watched Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow ( Scarlett Johannasenn) sacrifice herself to ensure the Avenger’s victory over Thanos. Alaqua Cox will portray Maya in both “Hawkeye” and the spinoff series. She also was a supportive character and love interest of the anti-hero Daredevil and had a wicked backstory of her own. “Echo” will follow the story of Maya Lopez, who in the comics was a talented deaf, Native American, martial artist and athlete who could copy or mimic her opponent’s movements perfectly. Maya will be the second character “Hawkeye” introduces to the MCU (Marvel Comics Universe) and a spinoff show, “ Echo” is already in the works and set to release sometime in 2023.
The star-studded cast includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka Echo.
The show will debut with two episodes on Wednesday, November 24th, with subsequent episodes releasing every Wednesday through January 5th, 2022. Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye, with Hailee Steinfeld starring as Kate Bishop.
